Your Journey Begins With A Better Bred Chihuahua

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF OUR BREEDING PROGRAMTo prevent the harmful over-vaccination of dogs and puppies; many of whom may already posses protective lifelong immunity to many common diseases and infections. To limit the consumption of low quality, highly processed dry kibbles by incorporating healthy, fresh and raw foods into the daily diet.To research, find and promote the use of natural, holistic and homeopathic alternatives, products and remedies in the treatment of many common and parasitic infections. To limit the use of toxic (year round) chemicals & neurotoxins used as "preventatives" in treating common and parasitic infections.TO EDUCATE PET PARENTS EVERYWHERE
I will NEVER apologize, compromise or negotiate what I believe are the most important things a "BREEDER" should be doing when raising dogs and puppies, INCLUDING giving puppies the absolute best start in life with healthy, organic, raw meals to help develop a strong, robust immune system with a diverse gut biome. This is accomplished in part by limiting potentially harmful pharmaceuticals and neurotoxins and not using chemical dewormers and antiparasitics indiscriminately...but ONLY when necessary or testing shows a reason for their administration.

My Mission

My beliefs and my practices have evolved over many years of experience, learning, crying, bleeding, defending, and listening. The most important thing people should know about my breeding program is that this is NOT a passive hobby. This is a full time commitment...morning, noon and night and all day in between. When I started out on my journey to become a breeder of amazing Chihuahuas, I called dozens of show breeders, visited some of their homes, asked hundreds of questions and learned as much as I could. I used to think seeing a bunch of ribbons and trophies on a kennel wall meant I was getting the best dog possible, raised by the most dedicated and caring owner. Sadly, over the years, I have learned that ribbons and trophies and squawk about show rings only means a breeder partakes in shows...it does NOT guarantee a healthy, well socialized, well cared for dog, nor does it even mean you've found the best breeder. Too many times, I found myself walking away from a breeder's kennel knowing the dogs were not getting the best care and services they deserved and would demand (if they were able); from overgrown nails, to heavily plaque coated, rotting teeth, to flea infestations... made my eyes swell with tears and my heart with anger. I did NOT want to be THAT kind of breeder, a breeder who cares more about a ribbon or a trophy than the care of each one of his/her dogs. After learning to care for my dogs proactively, naturally and holistically, my focus was no longer on winning a ribbon, or catering to the superficial and SUBJECTIVE "show club's" ideals or qualifiers of 'what a chihuahua should look like' or what "they" considered to be the "acceptable" "standard". My focus turned to winning the hearts of my buyers AND my dogs! I was no longer impressed by mere ribbons and titles...I needed more. I needed the whole package...top to bottom, start to finish, morning until night. My dogs were going to receive the BEST care of any dog, anywhere no matter what their designation (show, companion, or breeder...blah blah blah). This care included a diet of fresh raw whole meats and veggies, limited pharmacological interference, holistic and homeopathic preventatives, and a phenomenal hygiene regimen. My goal and mission was to educate and inspire as many fellow pet owners around the world as possible to provide the very best care and natural treatment to all the dogs. As far as I am concerned, if a breeder's dogs are not ALL in the condition of the dogs in the show ring, they have no business breeding dogs.

Some Thoughts...

If you are a show/exhibition breeder and EVERY ONE of your dogs is not in the SAME tip top show condition as the ones you enter into the show ring...you have NO BUSINESS showing or owning dogs. I’ve seen it again firsthand and am so sick to death of the hypocrisy from elitist “show” breeders and exhibition breeders who yammer on about how what “they do” betters their breed and they only care about bettering the lines...really?! But you let the dogs you don't show, live with horribly overgrown nails, HORRIBLE DISGUSTING PLAQUE COATED rotting teeth, coats with dry missing/patchy spots, fleas, stinking to high heaven...tell me again how you only CARE ABOUT THE WELL BEING OF THE DOGS?!?!

I couldn’t possibly care any less about your belief that you are “bettering” the breed...when the ones left behind receive sub-par care. Spare me the elitist, self ascribed superiority and blather about lines, quality, structure and stacking pose....go clean your dogs’ teeth, trim their nails so they aren't limping from the discomfort of walking on overgrown nails, feed them food with SOMETHING that resembles actual meat, and give them some fresh air and sunlight! Don’t you DARE act superior unless EVERY ONE of your dogs is in the exact same or better condition as your show candidates.

I challenge every show breeder and/or buyer out there to come to my home...if you find a SINGLE dog with an overgrown nail or even ONE tooth covered in plaque...I will GIVE YOU ALL MY DOGS!! For anyone who thinks every breeder is the same as every other...you are sorely mistaken! I wish I could actually imprint on people the importance of seeing ALL the dogs in a breeder’s care. You need to check their teeth, their nails, their coats, their behavior. Breeding, housing and caring for dogs and puppies is NOT a part time job. It is an all consuming, full time commitment...CARING and treating dogs the way they deserve. Someone once asked me, 'Do you do this part time'? It actually took me aback...as I started to think...well part time, I guess, but when the heck do I ever get a day off?? A vacation?? A lunch break? A sick day?? This is a very FULL TIME hobby with no time off, or sick days, or vacations or calling in sick!  It is 24/7/365...FULL TIME, regardless of compensation. Would you apply for this job??

Some More Information About ChiWowTown

ChiWowTown Chihuahuas is the home of the best, most outstanding, naturally reared, purebred AKC registered, long and short coat Chihuahuas located near Buffalo, New York.  I am a small scale, in-home, hobby breeder, breeding for the love of the Chihuahua! I love every aspect of my little fur babies and all that goes into raising healthy, well tempered and well socialized, amazing dogs. I take breeding very seriously and strive to create friendly outgoing dogs that are lovable, outgoing, friendly, smart, and not skittish, barky, shaky or neurotic. They are raised in my home, among family and friends, and are well socialized before leaving my home! NONE of my dogs are housed in kennels or outdoors. We raise our Chihuahua puppies and dogs with a huge focus on nature and their living a much more natural and evolutionarily appropriate lifestyle and what a journey this has been...and continues to be. I began this journey with the idea of just creating some beautiful puppies for people to love...wow, what I have learned along the way...and what amazing transformations I've undergone. N0 longer is the shape of a forehead, or the length of a nose, what drives me to be the best breeder I can be. My journey now focuses on whole body health. We focus on natural & organic nutrition, holistic and homeopathic remedies of care, and limit unnecessary pharmaceuticals. My Chihuahuas are NOT your grandmother's yippy Chihuahuas! Families compliment how well socialized and friendly my dogs are and these families are available, upon request, to be called as references. (That should be part of your homework!) There are tons of 'run of the mill', same ol same ol, hum drum "breeders" out there to choose from, and unless you know what sets us all apart...you won't know how best to make your decision. Outside of the obvious of creating a well tempered, well socialized, healthy puppy, I feel that providing a life full of natural foods and experiences (the way nature intended) is of the utmost importance in raising my dogs. There is so much new information out there for buyers to learn and know, I believe it is my calling to not only create majestic, outstanding puppies for people all over the world...but to also educate pet owners how to BEST take care of their babies without the manipulative recommendations of some veterinarians. I've spent a great deal of time collecting and organizing some highly educational information on my website, so please feel free to check out the links and pages to get a better idea of the items I feel are most important for a pet owner/buyer to know and research when considering from whom to purchase a new puppy.

Full Disclosure: I do not receive any public funds, charity, hand outs, discounted veterinary care, volunteer services or donations. Everything I put into my breeding program and babies comes out of my own personal pocket, time, energy, heart and resources. I do not receive any hand outs and therefore do not 'hand out' my babies. If you're looking for cheap dog/puppy, you've come to the wrong place.
